Our goal is to provide a quality service at a reasonable price. There is no individual or firm that is too small; we actually focus on providing the small business owner with an affordable monthly or quarterly service. My goal since beginning business was to educate the consumer about options when filing their taxes. In today's electronic world, a taxpayer can have their refund in their bank account in less than two weeks. A refund anticipation loan and the associated high fees are NOT required.Mary began her business in Jacksonville, Florida in the early 80's as a sideline to supplement her income. All of the bookkeeping was prepared manually in journals and ledgers. Tax returns were all done by hand on paper. she worked full-time during the day, moonlighted keeping small businesses books and attending the University of North Florida. In 1995, she earned her Bachelors in Business Administration from UNF. That same year, Mary and John were relocated to Jesup, Georgia. Mary decided to make her sideline business her full time employment. Her vast experience in construction, retail, manufacturing, restaurant and service businesses proved to be invaluable. She understood the small business owner's needs because of her experience.Beginning a business in a small, rural southeast Georgia town was not exactly easy. The business was built with referrals. When John decided to exercise his early retirement option, Mary's dream was to move back to Florida specifically to St. Johns county. With two elementary age children, the excellent schools attracted us to the Northern part of the county. In 2004, buying a home was nearly impossible because of the real estate boom, so we built a home in Walden Chase near Nease High School. In 2005 and 2006, they purchased two condominiums in Crescent Beach, which are rented as vacation rentals http://fourwindsvacationcondos.com). When they decided to open an accounting and tax office, it made the most sense to open a location in St. Augustine between their home and their vacation rental business. My clients become my friends and loyal customers. They know that I care about them, their families, and their finances. They can call me anytime with a question about anything, and I will try to help them. Mary is an enrolled agent and represents taxpayers in audits, collections, and appeals. In addition to filing business and personal tax returns, she can help you with non-filed returns and IRS problems. John, on the other hand worked for a major, public forest products company for 29 years. He worked his way up from an entry level accountant to the company's Operations Controller. It was a tough decision, but John elected to take an early retirement because he believed it was necessary to move to an area where the children could get an improved education opportunity. It is this caring about family and people that have driven him to offering accounting services for small businesses. After the retirement John worked as a consultant for a Jacksonvile clothing manufacturer to help them through their year end audit. After successfully completing the assignment, he elected to take a position with a Ponte Vedra construction company which specialized in high-end ocean-front homes. He spent three years as a full charge accountant for the company. John now has a good understanding of the construction business. In working directly for a small business he understands the need for small business owners to have a dependable financial manager to help them. He has an outstanding feel for the cash flow needs of business, and can offer expertise to those businesses that need help in their accounting and cash flow requirements. Like Mary, John has developed close relationships with those he has worked with. He recognized the problems in the construction business and advised the owner that it was not practical to pay a full time salary to an accountant when the market was on such shakey ground. He offered to step down, and become a part-time consultant and accountant for the business. This helped the company's cash flow and ability to survive the current housing market. It is important to put your friends and clients at the top of the list and do what is right with your financial expertise to help them excel in good times, and help them through the tough times. |
